HONEY'S MINI THERAPY ADVENTURES

Honey’s Mini Therapy Adventures is a Central Florida 501(c)(3) nonprofit that brings trained miniature therapy horses directly to the people who need them most — in hospitals, nursing homes, schools, behavioral health facilities, hospice centers, and beyond.
Founded in 2018 by Mary Rose Gullet, the organization was built on a simple but powerful belief: healing doesn’t always require words. Sometimes, all it takes is the quiet, calming presence of a tiny horse.
What began with a single horse named Honey has grown into a fleet of over a dozen trained therapy horses making regular visits to more than 20 facilities across Florida, including Tampa General Hospital, AdventHealth campuses, BayCare Hospitals, Lakeland Regional Health, Gulfside Hospice, and many others.
Client Challenges
- Limited internal capacity to research, write, and manage grant applications
- No history of multi-year grant funding, a significant barrier to long-term stability
- Need for a compelling, unified funding narrative to attract diverse funders
- A mission spanning many populations — pediatric, senior, behavioral health, first responders — requiring tailored cases for each funder audience
- Desire to grow the funding base while staying focused on program delivery
Solutions Highlights
Pathways to Growth became a true extension of the Honey’s Mini Therapy Adventures team — investing deeply in their programs, populations served, and organizational vision. Our partnership spanned three core areas:
1. Strategic Prospect Research
We built a prioritized grant pipeline identifying funders aligned not just by dollar amount, but by mission fit — spanning pediatric health, senior wellness, mental health, equine therapy, and community care. Every application submitted was a strong strategic match.
2. Compelling Grant Writing
Our team crafted persuasive, well-researched proposals that translated the breadth and depth of Honey’s work into language funders respond to. From dementia patients in memory care to adolescents in behavioral health facilities to foster children — we helped tell the full story of their impact.
3. Milestone Achievement: First Multi-Year Grant
One of our proudest accomplishments was securing Honey’s Mini Therapy Adventures’ first-ever multi-year grant — $15,000 over two years. This milestone signals to the broader funder community that this organization has earned sustained confidence and long-term investment.
Results Highlights
- $83,180 in total grant funding won across multiple funders and grant cycles
- Secured the organization’s first multi-year grant ($15,000 over 2 years), unlocking a new tier of funder credibility
- Built a diversified funding portfolio reducing reliance on any single revenue source
- Strengthened funder narratives across all program areas — pediatric, senior care, behavioral health, and first responder support
- Freed up internal team capacity to remain focused on visiting patients, residents, and students across Central Florida
